So far in art we have learnt how to draw a human face (the mouth, eyes, nose, hair and ears) we have drawing anti-rhino-poaching posters, the last unit that we did was on figure drawing (Ms Sheugnet teamed up with Ms. Nubia (our Humanities teacher) and for our project in this unit, we had to make a painting (could have been a painted comic-strip) about ancient Greece, we were each assigned a little story and from there we drew what we imagined the scene looked like).
We are now doing a unit on 'Modern Paintings' where you draw a random thing straight out of nature (such as, a step of leaves, or a pile of rocks), then you take a small square of what you have drawn, and draw it onto a big piece of paper, and then paint it (the whole point of this is that its not supposed to look like what it really is). Mine was originally a pile of rocks, which i traced (because drawing them free-hand wasn't going well) then Ms Sheugnet helped me to pick a small square of the 'rocks' and i draw that full size onto a sheet of A4 paper (i attempted to paint it neon, but that didn't work - it looked terrible) then i drew it onto a BIG sheet of paper, and started painting it violet, mixed with different amounts of black or white. |
